Once again, this sort of thing wouldn't matter much in a lighter book, and aren't really that fatal even here - James gives many examples of what he means, and so much of the book is deep into minutiae that you don't need to understand every little thing. Like Caligula, he would TOTALLY get one of those little crappy emojis.
