The main character is quite interesting and consistent in her strengths and weaknesses, which also helps solidify the narrative. The tale has dark and very current subject matter. I found at least five instances where he committed the same errors as those he exposes, or contradicts himself, or asserts an embelished conclusion to a case study where no grounds for that conclusion existed. I've read other books in the Philosophy and Popular Culture series, but was expecting this one to be kind of lame. What I liked about this book is that shows various landscapes and climates that animals live in. when life seemed to go awry. I'm happy about it, though. I haven't cooked every recipe in this book - yet - but I've made quite a few, and each one has been fantastic.

Though, on this, it would be nice if the words were written in katakana in parenthesis after the word. I found the beginning of this book really enjoyable - the author took her time setting up the world and introducing a likeable heroine (neither a passive Mary-Sue princess nor an equally annoying 'stubborn, fiesty tomboy' stereotype). It's worth the price of admission, even if you are a dude and don't care about Jane Eyre. Picking up with the characters lives we are so familiar with. Rising does a fantastic job of explaining the critical issues that all Americans are facing, and how the "American DNA" that was formulated and passed down by the founding fathers is the key to making sure that citizens, not oligarchs, have control over America's destiny.
